In summer 2002, Wirral Play Council received funding from the Youth Offending Team, through the Youth and Community service, to organise Splash Extra projects in four playcentres across the Wirral plus the Youth on the Move project, a mobile service which reached five identified 'hotspots'.

The Splash Extra programme, for children aged 9-12, ran in conjunction with full-time playschemes at; Livingstone Street, Gautby Road, Charing Cross, Ballantyne, and Beechwood Play & Community Centres, covering designated areas in Central Birkenhead, North Birkenhead, Beechwood and Moreton.

The Youth on the Move scheme ran from the permanent or summer playschemes in Greasby, Woodchurch, and Noctorum, and utilised the Discovery Bus in Liscard, and Prenton.
