03.12.09 Christmas Holidays

Wirral Play Development Centre will be closing for its Christmas break from Friday the 17th December. We will re-open on Tuesday the 4th January, 2011.

25.10.10 New Acting Play Development Officers

Gemma Rhodes and Ros Barrie, are now our new part-time Acting Play Development Officers and will be in post until April, 2011.

04.10.10 Beth on Secondment

Beth Hogg is currently on secondment to the Aiming Higher team at Willow Tree until April, 2011.

22.07.10 New Acting Play Development Officer

Gemma Rigby is our new part-time Acting Play Development Officer and will soon be taking over from Beth Hogg for the near future.

28.07.10 Make Time For Play

'Our Place' is this year's national Playday theme, and once again the event is to be held at Birkenhead Park, on Balaclava field (opposite the visitor's centre pavillion) on Wednesday 4th August.
The event starts 11.00 am until 3.00 pm and there will be plenty of activities on offer throughout the day for children aged 5 - 14.

26.07.10 Summer Schemes are Go

Wirral Play Council's summer playschemes start today. During the next five weeks we will be running fifteen schemes at various sites across Wirral.

21.07.10 Summer Training

This year's summer playworkers begin their training at the Wirral Play Development Centre.
Subjects will include; sports activities, first aid, games, crafts, and face painting.

16.07.10 Play Practitioner and Play Ranger Vacancies

Vacancies have arisen for a play practitioner and Play Ranger to join Wirral Play Council's outreach projects.

Regretably, the Wirral Play Council charity fashion show has had to be cancelled due to lack of ticket sales.  Apologies to everyone that was looking forward to this event.

The first round of interviews for this year's summer playworker posts will be taking place this week at the W.P.D.C.

10.03.10 Wirral Play Council A.G.M.

Wirral Play Council held their Annual General Meeting today at the W.P.D.C. building, in Berner Street, Birkenhead.  The executive committee was voted back in again and we welcome new comittee member Zaria Shreef.
Afterwards, Beth Hogg gave a presentation about her recent Ugandan orphanage trip.

08.03.10 Beth's Back

Beth Hogg has returned from her African trip.  Bringing with her lots of photos and memories of her experience, both happy and sad, but leaving behind a brand new orphanage and play equipment for the children of Namulanda, Uganda.

19.02.10 Beth's Ugandan Orphanage Trip

Our Play Development Officer, Beth Hogg is flying out to Uganda today, as part of a team from Isaac's House, to help build an orphanage.  She'll be taking along lots of play equipment that was bought with the money raised from last month's fund raising events.

27.01.10 Stand-up Charity Night

Thanks to everyone who came along to the comedy night event at The Mackenzie, yesterday, in support of Isaac's House Orphanage Appeal.
It was a very funny evening starring three talented stand-up comedians who all gave their time free to help Beth raise over £800.00.  This will go towards the purchase of play equipment to take to Uganda, next month.

A big thank you to Steph at Laughology and the comics; Stephanie Davies, Kerry Leigh and Steve Porter, for their kind help and assistance.

20.01.10 Outreach Playworker Vacancy

Wirral Play Council has a vacancy for an outreach playworker to join our Community Play Ranger project.

19.01.10 Charity Comedy Night

Beth Hogg has organised a charity comedy night at The Mackenzie (134 Claughton Road, Birkenhead) on Tuesday 26th January, starting at 8.00 PM.
There are three comedians on the bill and tickets are just £10.00.  All proceeds to be spent on play equipment to take to Uganda, in February, as part of Isaac's House Orphanage Appeal.

18.01.10 Wirral Play Council A.G.M.

Wirral Play Council will be holding their Annual General Meeting at 12.00 PM on Wednesday 10th March at the Wirral Play Development Centre, Berner Street, Birkenhead.   All current members are welcome to attend.

19.01.10 Ugandan Orphanage Visit

Wirral Play Council's Senior Play Officer, Beth Hogg, is to visit Uganda during February as part of a team of UK aid workers from Isaac's House.  During her two-week stay, Beth will spend time visiting children in schools and orphanages, enhancing her playwork skills, and helping with day to day activities and the building of a new orphanage.
Beth is currently raising money to be spent on play equipment to take out there.
