05.12.08 Christmas Holidays

Wirral Play Development Centre will be closed for Christmas from Friday the 19th December and will re-open on Monday the 5th January, 2008.
We wish all our members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.


13.11.08 New Project Posts

Application packs for new playworker posts are now available for two exciting play projects due to start soon.  Check JOBS page for more information.
The closing date for all posts will be the 28th November.


31.10.08 PlaySpaces' Project Ended

Wirral Play Council's Outreach Play Project, PlaySpaces, has now ended.
We would like to thank all the staff, past and present, who helped make the project such a success over the years.


22.10.08 PlaySpaces' Half-term Timetable

From next Monday, Wirral Play Council's Outreach Play Project, PlaySpaces, will be out and about for the last time during the half-term holidays.
The final PlaySpaces' session will be a Hallowe'en party at Warwick Park, Upton.

07.08.08 Play Day 2008

Despite a couple of rain showers Wirral Play Day was a great success in Birkenhead Park, yesterday.
This year's theme was, 'Give Us A Go', and encouraged the 500+ children who attended to try something different.  The most popular activities were; Paper dress making, Straw Bales/Den Building, and the Climbing Wall.
The Children's Play Champion, Councillor Christine Meaden, opened the event and also judged the banner competition which, this year, was won by Seacome Children's Centre.
The Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Adrian Jones, also popped along to join in the fun.


28.07.08 Summer Playschemes Are Go!

From today, Wirral Play Council's summer playschemes start today in a variety of locations across Wirral.

23.07.08 PlaySpaces' Summer Timetable

From today, Wirral Play Council's Outreach Play Project, PlaySpaces, will be out and about across Wirral with its new summer 2008 timetable.
This year we have two outreach teams, The Blue Bunch and The Green Gang.

22.07.08 Farewell, Matt

Matt Duffy leaves the PlaySpaces' team, today, to start a new career with Connexions.
We all wish him the best of luck in his new post.


21.07.08 Wirral Play Day 2008

This year's Playday is to be held at Birkenhead Park, on Balaclava field (opposite the new pavillion) on Wednesday 6th August.
The event starts 11.00 AM until 3.00 PM and there will be plenty of children's activities on offer throughout the day.


03.07.08 Summer Training

This year's summer playworkers start their training at the Wirral Play Development Centre.
Subjects will include; first aid, health & safety, sports activities, games, paper costumes, badge making, and lots of face painting.


06.05.08 New Worker Welcome

We welcome our new playworker, Ros Barrie, to the Outreach Play Project, today.  This brings the PlaySpaces' team back to full capacity.


28.04.08 W.P.D.C. Makeover

Starting today, the Wirral Play Development Centre is getting a new look.  The exterior of the building is to be painted a completely different colour- after a decade of being sky blue.
If you want to know what colour we've chosen, you'll have to pop along and see for yourselves.


09.04.08 New Worker Welcome

We welcome our new playworker, Stacey Ronan, to the PlaySpaces' team, today.  Good luck in your new post.


19.03.08 Summer Playworker Deadline

The deadline for this year's Summer Playworker applications is the 30th April.


29.02.08 Farewell, Nat

Today we bid a fond farewell to Natalie Higginson, who leaves the PlaySpaces' team after being with the project from the beginning.
We wish her the best of luck in her new job in the tax office.


20.02.08 Wirral Play Council A.G.M.

Wirral Play Council held their Annual General Meeting today at the W.P.D.C. building, in Berner Street, Birkenhead.  The executive committee was voted back in again, along with a new committee member, Dianne Mulligan.
PlaySpaces' co-ordinator, Gemma Birchall, gave a presentation on the impact of the Outreach Play Project, which comes to an end this year.
